Whole-country business data: Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam

Published 11 October 2026 · Gmap Data guides

How Gmap Data's country campaigns work for Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam: what the coverage manifests actually contain, how a campaign is bounded, what happens to out-of-country results, and what the caps mean for the size of the list you get.

Every figure on this page comes from the shipped coverage manifests, not from an estimate.

The short answer

Gmap Data supports whole-country business-data campaigns in Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam. Each campaign is an ordered set of metro and regional anchors, run as a series of bounded local searches, and can save up to 1,000 businesses in one run - always capped by your remaining credits.

Deduplication is by Google place id across the whole campaign, so the same business appearing under two anchors is saved once and charged once.

What each country covers

Coverage is defined by a versioned manifest, not by a live query. Each country is a list of authored anchors ordered by tier, so the same manifest version always produces the same plan. The area counts below are the manifest's own definition.

CountryAnchor areasTier 1 coreTier 2 metrosTier 3 regional
Malaysia (MY)245 - Klang Valley811
Indonesia (ID)286 - Jabodetabek1012
Vietnam (VN)246 - HCMC + Hanoi108

Tier 1 is the densest metro core, so a credit-limited campaign spends there first. Tier 2 covers the other major metros and tier 3 covers state, regional and island anchors, which is what guarantees jurisdiction coverage rather than only city coverage.

Tier 1 anchors by country

These are the densest areas in each manifest and the first places a limited-credit campaign searches:

  • Malaysia: Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya, Subang Jaya, Shah Alam, Klang
  • Indonesia: Jakarta, Bekasi, Tangerang, South Tangerang, Depok, Bogor
  • Vietnam: Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Thu Duc, Bien Hoa, Thu Dau Mot, Bac Ninh

How a country campaign is bounded

A country campaign is one run with an ordered coverage plan, not a queue of loose searches. The plan, the per-area progress and the completion reason are all recorded against the run, so a partially-completed campaign can be explained rather than guessed at.

  • The effective target is the smallest of: the maximum you requested, your remaining credits, and the 1,000-business system cap.
  • Result options are 100, 250, 500 or 1,000 saved businesses; 250 is the default.
  • A run that hits the credit cap stops and records that as its completion reason, rather than continuing and failing.
  • Run diagnostics show which areas were searched and why the run stopped.

Out-of-country results and cost

After place details are read, a result whose structured Google country code differs from the campaign's country is skipped before it is saved. It is not charged, does not appear in your businesses or exports, and does not create an enrichment job.

This is deliberately a structured-field check on Google's own country code. A missing or unreadable country code is never treated as foreign, and the address text is never used to infer a country. Reading the detail to make that decision is a real request to Google, so it is counted in the run's own diagnostics - but it is not a credit charge.

  • A foreign result costs you no credit and appears in no export.
  • The cost of checking it is recorded in the run diagnostics, kept separate from your credits.
  • The completion reason on a run is the persisted record, so a campaign cannot report two different reasons in two places.

Sizing a country campaign

The number of saved businesses you get for a given number of credits depends on how many distinct businesses exist in the categories and areas you search, which varies by market. The coverage plan tells you the order and the caps; it does not promise a yield.

Limits

  • Only these three countries are supported for country campaigns; other markets are available as city searches.
  • A country campaign is capped at 1,000 saved businesses per run.
  • Coverage counts are the manifest's anchor areas, not a promise of how many businesses exist there.
  • Businesses are matched by Google place id only, so a legitimate branch of the same brand at a different address is kept as its own row.
  • Google Sheets export is an operator-workspace tool; customer exports are CSV and in-app projects.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Which countries are supported for whole-country campaigns?

Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam. Other markets are available as individual city searches with an adjustable radius and result cap.

How many businesses can one country campaign save?

Up to 1,000 saved businesses per run, and never more than your remaining credits. Result options are 100, 250, 500 or 1,000.

What happens when a result is in the wrong country?

It is skipped before it is saved, so it costs no credit and appears in no business list or export. The request used to check it is recorded in the run's own diagnostics.

How many areas does each country cover?

The current manifests define 24 anchor areas for Malaysia, 28 for Indonesia and 24 for Vietnam, each ordered by tier so the densest metro cores are searched first.

Can I run the same country twice?

Yes. Deduplication is by Google place id across the campaign, so a second run only saves and charges for businesses that are new to your list.
