Use case
Local business prospecting for sales teams
Gmap Data builds territory-scoped prospect lists of local and regional businesses - the ones a firmographic database barely registers - and exports them with a stable key so a refresh updates your CRM instead of duplicating it.
You are charged per business saved, so the cost of a list is the number of rows your reps will actually work.
New accounts are invite-only while we onboard early customers.
Where local-business prospecting actually breaks
Sales teams selling into local and regional businesses hit a wall with the usual firmographic databases: a plumbing company, a dental clinic or an auto shop has no funding round, no technology profile and no headcount trail to match on. They have a listing, a phone number and a rating.
Google Maps is the directory that already holds those businesses, with the category and geography a territory is built from. Gmap Data turns that into saved, deduplicated rows your reps can work.
- SDR and AE teams building a territory list before a quarter starts
- RevOps adding a repeatable list-building step ahead of CRM import
- Founders running the first hundred conversations in a new market
- Teams selling to a category of local business that barely appears in a firmographic database
A prospecting workflow that survives a CRM import
Set the territory
Assign each rep a category plus an area - a city, a radius, or a supported country when the pitch spans regions.
Save and dedupe
Each business is saved once by Google place id, so a re-run over an overlapping area updates the list instead of duplicating it.
Import with a stable key
Import the CSV with place_id as the external identifier, so a refresh updates an existing record rather than creating a second one.
Re-run only what is new
Use the skip-recently-seen mode so a refresh saves and charges only for businesses that are new to the list.
Why the credit model fits a sales motion
A team's prospecting cost is unpredictable when it is billed per search or per API call, because coverage work means running the same area repeatedly until it is exhausted. Gmap Data charges one credit per business saved, and searches, duplicates, failed lookups and website crawling are free.
So the cost of a list is the number of businesses the team will actually work, not the number of requests it took to find them. Unused credits carry over, so a quarter that ends early does not waste the quarter's quota.
- A run that finds nothing new costs nothing.
- The maximum cost is visible before a search runs, so a territory can be sized against a budget.
- Deduplication by place id means the same branch chain in the same city is not charged for twice.
What the data does and does not give a rep
The exported row is what the listing and the business's own website publish. It is enough to prioritise and to open a conversation with something specific.
- Prioritisation: category, business status, rating and review count
- Reach: phone numbers, plus published email addresses where the business has a website
- Research: website and domain, so a rep can look before writing
- Timing: opening hours and time zone for call windows across a territory
- Not included: private personal data, decision-maker contacts, or any outreach sending
Honest limits
Gmap Data prepares and exports the list. It does not send email, run sequences, or write to your CRM, so it fits the process your team already has rather than replacing it.
It also does not detect a prospect's technology stack, score leads, or generate outreach copy. The export carries the fields; your team decides what they mean.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
Is this useful for a team whose prospects are not local businesses?
Usually not. The value is highest for teams selling to businesses that barely appear in a firmographic database. If your target account list is national mid-market or enterprise, a firmographic data source is the better fit.
How do we avoid importing the same business twice?
Import with place_id as the external identifier. Each Google place has one id, so a later import updates the existing record instead of creating a duplicate.
Can we build one list per rep and keep them separate?
Yes. Runs are owned by the workspace and each run's results are exported separately, so territory lists can be sized and handed out individually.
What happens to contacts we already emailed?
Suppression and outreach state live on your side. Use projects to review rows and record what should stay out of a future export before refreshing a territory.
Does Gmap Data send our outreach?
No. It prepares and exports the list. Sending, sequencing and opt-out handling stay in your existing outreach tools, and you remain responsible for contacting businesses lawfully.
